Medical Receptionist

Job Description:

A Medical Receptionist greets patients and visitors with a friendly, positive demeanor while assisting them in an effective, timely manner and, by following all policies and procedures, ensuring the office runs smoothly.

Medical Receptionist Essential Functions:

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the phone.
  • Assists patients with the check-in and check-out process.
  • Addresses patient inquiries by assisting or directing them to the appropriate person.
  • Ensures all required patient information is obtained and entered into eClinical Works at every visit.
  • Works diligently to ensure all co-pays and patient balances are collected at the time of service.
  • Protects patients’ rights by maintaining strict confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Communicates well with the clinical staff in order to ensure patients are seen timely.
  • Assists in scheduling patients in person or over the phone to ensure the needs are met for both the patient and the physician.
  • Maintains all financially-related items such as petty cash logs, daily reconciliations and all other required reporting.
  • Travels to multiple office locations.
  • Flexibility in regards to work schedule.
  • Performs various other tasks as assigned.

Medical Receptionist Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and experience in a receptionist role.

  • Effective verbal communication;
  • A high level of professionalism;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Telephone skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience, preferabily eClinical Works;
  • Patient scheduling abilities;
  • Multi-tasking abilities;
  • Time management;
  • A high level of professionalism and maintaining patient confidentiality;
  • Dedication and dependability, and willing to assist fellow team members in any way possible.
