Medical Assistant

Job Responsibilities:
A Medical Assistant provides patients with information and healthcare services, maintains a positive, professional demeanor, and supports our providers in various clinical and administrative areas.

Medical Assistant Essential Functions:
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
• Prepares patients for examination by taking blood pressure, weight, and pulse.
• Transmits physician’s orders and answers patient questions about treatments.
• Diligent in maintaining patient confidence by keeping patient information secure while ensuring completion of confidential medical records.
• Retrieves necessary medical records from other facilities and primary care providers.
• Completes accurate diagnostic and procedure coding.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following the Americare Kidney standards and procedures as well as complying with all legal regulations.
• Ensures supply inventory is stocked, places orders as needed, and verifies receipt.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining certifications and staying proficient in eClinical Works.
• Serves and protects the Nephrologist practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
• Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Travels to multiple office locations routinely.
• Flexibility in regards to work schedule
• Performs various other tasks as assigned

Medical Assistant Skills and Qualifications:
All applicants must be a Graduate of a Medical-Assisting Program or a State-Tested Nursing Assistant.  All applicants must also possess:
– Effective verbal communication skills;
– A high level of professionalism;
– Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience, preferably eClinical Works;
– Patient scheduling abilities;
– Infection control experience;
– Strong organizational skills;
– Strong customer service skills;
– A high professional level of confidentiality; and
– dependability and willing to assist fellow team members in any way possible.
